Bob Stefanowski Issues Statement on the Increase in Violence in CT

August 3, 2022

Branford, CT– Bob Stefanowski, candidate for Governor of Connecticut, today speaks out following reports of a July 27 ‘Melee’ involving 14 inmates and injuring 9 Corrections Officers at a facility in Uncasville, CT.

“Less than a week ago I called on Governor Lamont to do something about the dangerous and deplorable conditions in Connecticut’s correctional facilities. Our correction officers and inmates are still suffering in 100 degree heat with no air conditioning, severe understaffing and failed policies that put lives in danger,” said Stefanowski. “The fight that broke out yesterday, injuring nine corrections officers is a direct result of Ned Lamont’s failure as Governor to protect law enforcement.”

“When questioned about the unsafe environment, Governor Lamont’s response was that his administration has ‘done all we can do.’ If this is all a governor can do to keep people safe than it’s a very sad day for Connecticut. As Governor, my top priority will be to keep all residents safe and secure regardless of where they live. This is what we expect and this is what we deserve from our state’s leader,” said Stefanowski.
