Stefanowski maps out a plan for victory against Lamont

April 18, 2022

CT Insider

By Josh LaBella

TRUMBULL — Republicans running for state and federal office think this might be their year for a series of major victories.

Bob Stefanowski, the Republican candidate for governor, said he and his choice for lieutenant governor, state Rep. Laura Devlin, have a terrific shot at winning the state’s top spots. But he said Republicans need to show they can do four things to ensure victory: restore faith in government; increase public safety; make Connecticut more affordable; and give parents a greater say in what their children are taught in schools.

Stefanowski, Devlin and other Republicans running for state and federal office appeared at a meet-and-greet hosted by the Trumbull Republican Town Committee on Monday. Before a crowded room, Stefanowski cited examples of alleged public corruption as a reason faith needs to be restored.

Stefanowski pointed to an FBI investigation into alleged contract-steering for school demolition and construction work by Konstantinos “Kosta” Diamantis, a former Office of Policy and Management official, as well as the arrest of former state Rep. Michael DiMassa, who was charged with wire fraud after allegedly using his position as a West Haven City Hall employee to steal over $1 million, including federal pandemic funding.

“We need to bring integrity back to government — that’s what the people want,” he said.

Stefanowski: Government needs new direction

April 13, 2022

WTIC

By Greg Little

Farmington, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-In a wide-ranging one-hour radio interview, Republican Gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski said Connecticut needs to head in a new direction, helping those struggling.

“The Governor is boasting about a two-billion-dollar surplus which came from the federal government. That’s ours as well and comes from federal taxes. A new report shows 126 thousand kids don’t have enough food to eat. People are facing $4.50 a gallon gas prices, people can’t heat their homes and people are moving out of Connecticut.”

Why is Connecticut No. 1 in the cost of electricity among the 48 lower states? Here are 7 reasons

April 12, 2022

The Hartford Courant

By Stephen Singer

Connecticut’s electricity prices are the highest among the lower 48 states, exasperating consumers and business owners and hampering economic development.

Jet engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney, for example, cited lower electricity costs when the subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies Corp. announced last year it will build an energy-devouring manufacturing plant in North Carolina rather than in its home state of Connecticut.

In 2019, the most recent year for which data are available, electricity in Connecticut cost about 18.7 cents a kilowatt hour, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. It’s cheaper than what residents of Alaska and Hawaii paid, but is more than double the price in Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska and elsewhere.

Stefanowski Calls On Lamont To Use Veto on Democrat Budget

April 12, 2022

Branford, CT– Bob Stefanowski, candidate for Governor of Connecticut, calls on Governor Lamont to use his veto on Democrat revenue package.

“For me, that means no hanky panky when it comes to the spending cap, no fooling around with the revenue cap, no playing games with the rainy day…” Governor Ned Lamont

“No ‘hanky panky’ or ‘fooling around’? Governor, this is serious. You have to set the marker down with Democrat lawmakers that you’ll veto any budget that doesn’t adhere to the fiscal stability measures put in place by the bipartisan legislature in 2017,” said Stefanowski.

“I know this is an election year and soundbites carry the day, but the Governor should be straight with people about his intentions with this budget. Send a clear message to the people of Connecticut and Democrat legislators that you will veto any budget that uses gimmicks and goes around budget guardrails. These are the policies that break the trust with the public and we need to put an end to them.”nd to them.”
