Stefanowski Reacts to CT Dems New Haven Press Conference on His Gun Safety Stance

September 9, 2022

Branford, CT – Bob Stefanowski, candidate for governor of Connecticut, responds to today’s press conference held in New Haven.

“Unable to explain away his lies about raising your taxes and mocking parents concerned about their children’s education as ‘extremists; Governor Lamont’s desperation is starting to show. Today, he reached a new low, by exploiting survivors of horrible gun violence that happened under his watch as a backdrop for another attack ad. My position on supporting law enforcement and keeping people safe has not changed from day one.

Connecticut has the strongest gun laws in the entire country and that’s the way they should stay. But I will also use my platform as Governor to urge federal action in Congress on comprehensive solutions that protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners while strengthening federal laws that prevent those who pose a risk to themselves and others from getting their hands on a gun. It’s time to put politics aside and start working together for a safer country and state,” said Stefanowski.

Devlin on CT’s Gold Standard Gun Laws

June 14, 2022

Laura Devlin: “I support Connecticut’s gold standard red flag laws, which is why I joined a bipartisan vote against a law that would weaken them.”

Branford, CT– State Representative Laura Devlin of Fairfield, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor praises Connecticut’s red flag laws, disappointed in Governor Lamont’s distortion of her record:

“I support Connecticut’s gold standard red flag laws, which is why I joined the bipartisan vote against a law that would weaken them,” said Representative Devlin. “Why is it so hard for Governor Lamont to be honest with the people of Connecticut? My voting record shows strong support for common sense gun laws. This bill didn’t strengthen our red flag laws, it weakened them, and put lives at risk, which is why I and many of my Democrat colleagues voted against it. We can debate the issues, but we can only do that if we’re going to be honest.”

“My concern about this bill was that it put lives at risk, making it harder for law enforcement to do their job, to protect those who are a danger to themselves and others. Any delay in intervention puts people with mental health concerns or fear of violence at greater risk. This bill provides law enforcement with less information than they would have under existing law. I believe that early intervention and letting law enforcement do their job is better than muddying an already very strong red flag law for political grandstanding,” added Devlin.

“Public safety should always take precedent over partisan politics. I am extremely disappointed in Governor Lamont for distorting my record and those of my bi-partisan colleagues who joined me in voting against this legislation.”

Stefanowski Responds to More Cost Overruns On Scandal Ridden State Pier Project

May 26, 2022

Branford, CT– Bob Stefanowski, candidate for Governor of Connecticut, responds to yet more cost overruns on the scandal ridden State Pier project, that is under FBI investigation:

“The Governor is ‘Mad as Hell’ at cost overruns, but he hasn’t done a damn thing about it,” said Stefanowski. “This is the same Governor who in February of 2020 said ‘Kosta’s got to deliver the goods… on time and under budget… We’re going to hold people’s feet to the fire to get it done.’”

“Now there’s an FBI investigation and the cost overruns are in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The cost overruns on the construction of the state pier in New London have gone from $93 million, to $157 million and now ballooned to $255 million.”

“If you were building a house and the cost went from $93,000 to $255,000, would you fire your builder? Well, for New London’s State Pier, the numbers are in the millions, and no one cares. Yes, a $255 Million taxpayer-funded contract wildly out of control, and Governor Lamont has done nothing.”

Bob Stefanowski Statement on Tragedy in Uvalde Texas

May 25, 2022

Branford, CT– Bob Stefanowski, candidate for Governor of Connecticut, statement on tragedy in Uvalde Texas:

“Amy and I want to send our deepest condolences to everybody impacted by this tragedy. From the parents of the children in Texas to moms and dads across Connecticut who dropped their kids off at the school bus this morning everyone has been touched by this horrible incident.

Mass shootings have become tragically routine in America, but the targeting of children hits us hardest of all. To have any hope of solving this, we need both parties to spend less time pointing fingers at each other and more time working together to solve problems and keep our communities safe.

As Governor, I will lead by example and enforce Connecticut’s gun laws that are the strongest in the country. I will ensure that we live up to the commitment made in the wake of Sandy Hook to expand access to mental health services and crack down on gun violence in every single one of our communities. No one will be left behind.

I will reverse the portion of the Police Accountability Bill passed last year that made it harder for good police officers to do their job. I will support law enforcement and increase funding to police to fill the dangerously high vacancy rates that have resulted in increased violence in Connecticut.

Finally, Connecticut has the strongest gun laws in the entire country and that’s the way they should stay. But I will also use my platform as Governor to urge federal action in Congress on comprehensive solutions that protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners, while strengthening federal laws that prevent those who pose a risk to themselves and others from getting their hands on a gun. It’s time to put politics aside and start working together both as a nation and as a state to prevent these horrific experiences from happening again.”
