The police accountability bill has far-reaching ramifications that have harmed the culture in which our law enforcement

Accountability
There are few bad actors in law enforcement – and they should be held responsible. With that said, we need to support the officers committed to doing their job and destigmatize mental health support and provide needed services to make sure our officers are performing at peak well-being. We support continuing the fixes that were enacted in the last legislative session. Officers need to feel supported by their community and government.
Fill our Ranks
The police accountability bill has resulted in critical staff shortages that are causing a crippling amount of overtime just to sustain coverage. Outside of the added costs to municipalities, working multiple successive shifts can jeopardize their focus, response time, and effectiveness in the field. Reversing the aspects above will help address this issue.
Enforce our Laws
Consequences are a necessary component of a healthy and meaningful criminal justice system. This includes holding juvenile offenders accountable to stop the cycle of repeat offending and being co-opted by adult criminals. We need to stop glorifying criminals, villainizing the police, and ignoring victims.
